Meet Sarah Azizi
Every student deserves to believe their future is worth preparing for.
"I’m running for School Board Trustee because students need strong academic foundations, support that recognizes how differently they learn, safe schools, and to feel that education is still meaningful in a rapidly changing world."
Vote Sarah Azizi — October 26, 2026
Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.
I’m running for English Public School Board Trustee for Collingwood and Wasaga Beach because I believe our schools should do more than move students from one grade to the next.
Every student deserves a strong academic foundation. Every student deserves to have their learning needs recognized. Every student deserves to feel safe enough to learn, supported enough to keep trying, and challenged enough to continue growing.
Most importantly, students should be excited for their future and the possibilities available to them.

Student Achievement & Individual Learning Needs
Strong academic foundations—while recognizing every child does not learn the same way.
Some students struggle with dyslexia, ADHD, language barriers or other learning challenges. Others require greater academic challenge. Some simply need information presented differently before something finally clicks.
A successful education system should be capable of recognizing those differences without lowering expectations for what students can achieve.
My priority: stronger foundations, earlier recognition of learning needs, appropriate intervention and meaningful opportunities for every student to progress.

Safe, Supportive Schools
Students cannot learn well in environments where they do not feel safe, respected or connected.
School safety must be taken seriously.
That includes responding appropriately to violence and serious behavioural problems—but it also means looking deeper at the conditions that allow disengagement, isolation and destructive behaviour to grow.
Students need clear expectations and accountability. They also need adults who listen, notice when something is changing, and intervene before problems become crises.
Teachers and staff deserve environments where they can teach effectively, and students deserve schools where they can concentrate on learning without feeling threatened or forgotten.
My priority: safer school environments built on accountability, prevention, belonging and early intervention.

Responsible Growth & Accountability
Growing communities require forward-looking educational planning.
Collingwood and Wasaga Beach are communities with changing educational needs.
School capacity, facilities, transportation, programming and future infrastructure cannot be treated only as problems once they become urgent.
Families deserve thoughtful planning—and they deserve to understand the decisions being made on their behalf.
A trustee should not simply vote at the board table. A trustee should communicate what is happening, ask difficult questions and make sure the communities they represent are not an afterthought.
My priority: responsible planning, transparent decision-making and strong representation for Collingwood and Wasaga Beach.

Future Readiness & Innovation
Our world is changing, and our classrooms must reflect that.
Students need skills that prepare them for a landscape shaped by technology and global connectivity. We must integrate innovative teaching methods that foster critical thinking and problem solving.
A modern education should equip every student with the tools to navigate and succeed in a rapidly evolving economy.
My priority: modernizing curricula, fostering digital literacy and ensuring career readiness for all.
We should never accept a child giving up on their own potential.
One of the most damaging things that can happen in education is not receiving a bad mark, but when a student begins to believe that trying no longer matters.
When a child repeatedly struggles without understanding why, falls behind without meaningful intervention, remains unchallenged year after year, or begins to feel disconnected from school entirely, something larger than an academic problem can develop.
They can begin to change what they believe about themselves.
That is why catching problems earlier is so important.
A student should not have to fail dramatically before we recognize that something is wrong.
A gifted student should not have to disengage completely before we recognize that they are insufficiently challenged.
A child who learns differently should not have to spend years believing they are incapable before receiving the support that allows them to succeed.

Why I’m Running
My work in literacy and student learning has made one thing impossible for me to ignore:
Children are extraordinarily capable—but the path to reaching them is not always identical.
I have seen how dramatically confidence can change when a student who believed they were incapable finally understands something.
I have seen the importance of recognizing different learning needs instead of allowing children to silently fall further behind.
And I have become increasingly concerned about the larger question facing this generation: What happens when young people stop believing that education is connected to a meaningful future?
That is a question our school system cannot ignore.
I believe education should give students more than credentials.
It should give them knowledge. Independence. Confidence. Judgment. Curiosity. Discipline. The ability to think for themselves.
It should make more of the world available to them.
And no student should leave our schools believing that their potential was overlooked because nobody stopped long enough to notice what they needed.
That is why I am running.
Sarah's Background
Dedicated Full Time To Student Success...
My background is in neurodiversity and understanding the unique minds of students and all learners.
As the founder of a literacy academy that teaches students who are advanced, and those with learning differences, I am deeply embedded in the research of how students learn, how safe learning environments are created, and how to support students to reach their full potential.
I am passionate about ensuring that our students have the best possible learning environments so that they may succeed in their goals not only academically but also personally.
I will bring my experience and wisdom that go hand in hand with this role, into every day on this mission.
One trustee. Two communities. A responsibility to represent both.
Collingwood and Wasaga Beach share a trustee, but each community has its own schools, families, pressures and priorities.
I want residents in both communities to know that they have a representative who is paying attention to the people who have entrusted me with the responsibility of the trustee role.
I will listen to your voice before decisions are made, understand how board-wide policies affect schools locally, and raise community concerns at the board table.
I will dig deep into research, find solutions, and communicate effectively to the board to set us on course toward the future success of our schools and students for generations to come.
A school system should never stop asking whether it can do better.

The goal is not to create schools in which every student has identical experiences or identical outcomes.
The goal should be an education system that notices when students are struggling, recognizes when they are capable of more, responds when schools become unsafe or disconnected, and continues adapting as the world around our students changes.
A system that believes students are worth that effort.
A system that expects progress.
And a system in which families know their communities have a strong voice at the table.
